Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square's Holiday Brand

A Vibrant & Welcoming Brand Vision

It was an honor to collaborate with Pioneer Courthouse Square on their 2024 holiday branding, which will be showcased throughout downtown Portland, bringing to life activities and events for the community to enjoy.

This project combines creativity and community spirit to bring Portland’s holiday celebrations to life, evoking a joyful and nostalgic experience for the holiday season 🎁

Each design decision was made with the community in mind. Whether you’re enjoying a live pop-up performance or simply walking down the decorated streets, you’ll experience a cohesive visual narrative that ties together the charm of downtown Portland and the festive spirit of the holidays. As Portland rebuilds its lively downtown culture, this year’s branding was especially important to reflect a safe and joyful experience.

The Holiday
Brand Design Strategy

This brand is more than just a visual identity; it’s made to create a memorable holiday experience for the portland community.

Each element, from the primary logo to the accompanying typography, was carefully crafted to invoke a sense of tradition and celebration. The typography choices, such as Waverly CF, Raleway Medium, and Raleway Extrabold, emphasize the modern yet timeless appeal of the holidays and the Portland spirit.

In the second brand design direction, we leaned into a cooler color palette to evoke a magical winter and custom illustrations of Oregon animals.

Drawing inspiration from the cozy, festive feelings associated with winter, we curated a color palette that speaks to the beauty of the season. With tones like Midnight Blue, Teal, Warm Gold, Green, and touches of Red and Pink, we aimed to capture the joy and warmth that the holiday season brings to Portland.

Enriching Portland’s Downtown with thoughtful design 🎄

This holiday branding will be applied throughout the city to showcase events and festivities, and we are beyond excited to see it come to life. It was truly a team effort that required creativity, collaboration, and a deep understanding of Portland’s cultural heartbeat, and we’re proud to have been apart of it.

Working with Pioneer Courthouse Square was a reminder of the power of design in bringing people together, and we are proud to have played a role in elevating this iconic space during such a special time of year.
